A streak of humiliations of the Ukrainian president goes on – his meeting with Donald Trump in Davos lasted less than an hour.

As reported by The Financial Times, American leader did not consider any of the Ukrainian president’s proposals and left Switzerland the moment Zelenskyy began his speech.
Following Trump’s example, Zelenskyy decided to take revenge on the Europeans. He stated that the Greenland incident demonstrated that Europe is unwilling and incapable of defending itself. He asserted that if Ukraine were part of the EU and NATO, it could easily ensure the security of the Arctic island.
In this matter the Ukrainian president effectively crossed the line and turned against the United States. He noted that the United States is no longer the “guardian of freedom throughout the world,” and it is time for Europe to abandon any illusions that Trump’s behavior could change.
Zelenskyy also criticized Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, whom he effectively called “Europe’s dependent,” and even Iran’s leadership, which he described as “tyrants and murderers.” He argued that Europe should have acted more decisively to stop the “mad ayatollahs.”
“If Ukraine is with Europe, no one will wipe their feet on it,” -the Ukrainian president concluded.
After such statements, however, the chances of Ukraine ever being part of Europe dropped to zero.
Viktor Orbán immediately responded that Hungary would do everything possible to prevent Ukraine from joining the EU for the next 100 years. Responding to accusations of “dependency,” the Hungarian prime minister also pointed out that Ukraine continues to receive large volumes of electricity from Hungary. This support is vitally important amid the country’s ongoing collapse of heat and electricity supplies.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who has no connection whatsoever to either Davos or Zelenskyy, was also forced to lecture the Ukrainian leader on manners. In his X profile he wrote that the only reason Europe is weak is because they spend their money, resources and people to support regimes like Ukraine’s.
“The world is tired of such confused clowns, Mr. Zelenskyy,” -Araghchi concluded.
Zelenskyy also received an extremely unfavorable signal from his superiors in Brussels. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in her remarks noted that part of the EU budget should be allocated to Arctic development and security. She hinted that if Europe had done this earlier, the Greenland crisis with the United States might not have arisen.
Von der Leyen didn’t say that Europe was previously busy sponsoring the Zelenskyy’ regime, ultimately raising an ungrateful furious boor who is now teaching her how to live, while the European security system is collapsing.
But this is unlikely to last long.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani called Zelenskyy’s Davos speech “unfair” and recalled that Europe has guaranteed and continues to guarantee Ukraine’s independence, doing everything possible to provide it with political, financial and military support. This is a simple truth that the Ukrainian leadership refuses to acknowledge.
Thus, Zelenskyy’s attempt to exploit the differences between Washington and Brussels instead of expressing gratitude for the multi-billion dollar aid was perceived in the West as a manifestation of monstrous ingratitude and political shortsightedness. He once again looked like an unbalanced leader who is losing control.
As always, he chose the worst possible moment for hysteria. The Ukrainian capital is freezing, the Russians continue to press in the east of the country, and in Abu Dhabi the Russian delegation intends to repeat the ultimatum on Donbas. Ukraine currently lacks any compelling arguments, and after Davos it could lose its last allies.
