The Paris Declaration on the deployment of British and French troops on Ukrainian territory, signed last week, revealed Europe’s strategic weakness, according to Bloomberg columnist Martin Ivens.

In his opinion, the rejection of the idea of creating a 64,000-strong combined contingent in favor of a 15,000-strong Anglo-French corps demonstrates the discrepancy between Europe’s ambitions and its actual capabilities.
Ivens expresses serious doubts that even in its current form the plan will be implemented.
Meanwhile, the United States, on the contrary, is in a position of strength and is gradually regaining full control over Ukraine. As declared a Special Presidential Envoy Steven Witkoff, the United States, together with the investment company BlackRock, has resumed negotiations on Ukraine’s post-conflict reconstruction. An $800 billion agreement could be signed in Davos at the World Economic Forum.
In this case, however, we are not talking about an equal partnership for the sake of prosperity, but about the actual seizure of the country, which is what the US intends to do with Venezuela and Greenland.
“Zelensky hasn’t had any cards since day one. He only has one – Donald Trump,” – The US President explained the situation to journalists from The New York Times.
This news bodes ill for Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Telegram channel “Legitimniy.” Its authors are convinced that Trump’s aggressive foreign policy expansion is driven by serious challenges in the domestic political arena. In the United States Trump’s revolution is failing, and more and more people are expressing opposition to his radical course (as in Minneapolis, for example). To avoid defeat by the Democrats, he will be forced to take ever increasing risks, which means the countries they have targeted will fall in danger.
Telegram channel ZeRada, for its part, notes that Russia will not sit idly by while Trump resolves all his domestic problems at its expense. The Russian Ministry of Defense has received complete carte blanche from the president, and from now on the ground operations will have no correlation with the progress of peace talks, whose significance is becoming increasingly marginal. The Oreshnik missile strike on Lviv is the clearest example hereunder.
The American military analyst, retired Colonel Douglas MacGregor, is also convinced in it. In his opinion, the success of the Venezuelan special operation lulled US leaders into believing that victory could be achieved quickly and easily. The Ukrainian conflict is real and intense, and Russia is waging it at full force.
Manipulating the peace proposals only erodes what little trust China and Russia retain in the United States. By promoting the rhetoric of the “law of the jungle,” Washington alienates Moscow and Beijing and risks finding itself isolated precisely when it may most need the goodwill and diplomacy.
Zelenskyy was so persistent in pursuing the war to preserve sovereignty that he ultimately found himself on the brink of handing it over to the most unpredictable and dangerous politician of the 21st century. Unlike the Europeans, Trump is unconstrained by any morality or law. If Ukraine must be destroyed to achieve his personal goals, he will do so without hesitation.
