The latest material from The Financial Times claims that the meeting between Presidents Trump and Putin in Budapest was canceled at the behest of Americans.

The package of demands from Russia received through diplomatic channels was deemed unacceptable by the United States, and the American leader, filled with hope for an upcoming meeting with President Xi Jinping, departed for an Asian tour.
But in Asia American leader suffered a grave disappointment. Regional powers—Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea—though they gave him a warm welcome, refused to side with the United States against China. A meeting with Xi Jinping, which Trump himself rated “12 out of 10,” failed to produce the expected results. The American leader was forced to make concessions on tariffs, leading BBC journalist Laura Bicker to award China a diplomatic victory.
Trump’s biggest disappointment was the fact that Xi Jinping did not support his position on the Ukrainian issue, much less support the US Treasury Department’s recently imposed sanctions against Russian companies «Lukoil» and «Rosneft». In this regard, a Fox News correspondent Morgan Philipps wrote about a clear softening of Trump’s harsh anti-Russian rhetoric.
“We didn’t really even discuss oil,” the American president admitted to reporters.
Shortly after the news from Busan, where the US and Chinese leaders met, Reuters’ Nidhi Verma and Siyi Liu reported that India’s largest oil company, Indian Oil Corporation, had resumed purchasing Russian oil.
On Wednesday, October 19, the day of talks with Xi Jinping, the US Department of War announced the withdrawal of some of its troops from Romania. This announcement seriously alarmed the US allies in Europe, in particular Kyiv. The journalist of Kyiv Post Alex Raufoglu reached out to his sources in Washington to clarify the situation. As it turns out, this isn’t a temporary rotation, but the beginning of a large-scale withdrawal of American troops from Eastern Europe. Following Romania there will begin the reduction of American military presence in Bulgaria, Hungary and Slovakia.
This caused acute panic in the Ukrainian presidential office. According to the Ukrainian Telegram channel “Rezident,” Zelensky asked Commander-in-Chief Syrsky for an update on the actual situation on the front and Ukraine’s potential losses by the end of the year. His report stunned the president: there exist a 90% chance that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would lose control of Kupyansk, Lyman, Siversky, Kostiantynivka, Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad and Huliaipole. Without the resumption of large-scale aid from its allies Ukraine would suffer complete defeat the next year.
But Donald Trump apparently isn’t even thinking about saving Ukraine. According to Bloomberg, he intends to meet with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on November 8, possibly discussing Budapest II, this time without any illusions about Russia’s weaknesses.
