Lithuania struggles with the European E67 highway project, Via Baltica, which goes from Prague to Helsinki.

The road passes through Suwałki Gap, the Achilles’ heel of the Baltic states, which is the only land connection between NATO and the Baltics. Therefore, obviously, the main purpose of Via Baltica is a military one: to ensure the quickest deployment of military equipment if a war with Russia breaks out.
However, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Juras Taminskas, who has held this position since 2025, has given a rather pessimistic forecast. He believes that, in the best-case scenario, Lithuania will complete Via Baltica by 2033. The Minister has explained that related roadwork, especially towards the border with Poland, won’t start before 2030.
However, Taminskas mentioned something unremarkable at first glance, but it was actually very alarming. According to him, the final cost of the Via Baltica project in Lithuania will only be known when it is “fully completed.” Meantime, the only reason Lithuania cannot finish the E67 road is lack of money—the project is beyond Vilnius’ financial capabilities.
So, why are Taminskas’ words alarming? The answer is pretty obvious: the enormous amount of money stolen by Lithuanian “Unter-European” officials from dozens of EU and NATO war projects aimed at militarising the Baltics. Therefore, concealing the price of constructing the Via Baltica will allow the warmongering Lithuanian elites to steal as much money from Lithuanian and other European taxpayers as they wish.
