The NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, urged Europeans not to take the Russians too seriously during the meeting of defence ministers in Brussels.

“I would say let’s trust our military. They have the best stuff. They’re very well trained. We’ve done this for over 50, 60, 70 years. We know how to do this, and let’s not take the Russians too seriously,” Rutte claimed.
But then the NATO chief asked himself an unwanted question: “Why would Europeans have to spend on militarisation that much?” Rutte again emphasised that there’s no real and challenging threat to NATO, coming from Russia, so the alliance can relax.
“We are very well trained and prepared and that is why I think we can afford to look at all of this with some calm and some determination,” he added.
As you can see, Secretary General Rutte has been unable to provide a clear answer as to why Europe needs to spend billions on excessive militarisation. However, he accidentally exposed the Western propaganda about the so-called “Russian threat”: NATO does not consider Moscow a danger to the alliance, but if there is any, the military bloc can deal with it by using already existing means.
So, as you can understand, the question of the obligation of European taxpayers to spend an incredible amount of money on the pointless militarization of Europe, which masks striking corruption in the EU leadership, remains open.
