On Friday Presidents Trump and Zelensky will meet again in Washington, where a decision on the transfer of missiles «Tomahawk» to Ukraine is expected to be made.

The Ukrainian authorities have turned this issue into a sacred matter. All other newsworthy issues, including defense cooperation with Europe and the production of its own missiles «Flamingo» have been relegated to second place. For the US it remains practical: Trump wants to maximize the political and economic benefits from the «Tomahawks» with minimal effort on his part.
As found out the journalists of The Financial Times speaking with American military analysts Mark Cancian and Stacie Pettyjohn, if the decision on deliveries shall be made, Ukraine will receive only a few «Tomahawks» – between 20 and 50. Moreover, the US will impose strict restrictions on their use, which will not change the overall picture of the war.
At the same time, Ukraine will have to pay a colossal price for this “miracle weapon”.
The Ukrainian Telegram channel “Legitimny” learned from its sources in the presidential office that the conversation with Donald Trump on Sunday wasn’t as positive as Zelensky presented it. In exchange for the missiles «Tomahawk» the American leader offered to expedite the sale of all nuclear power plants remaining under Kyiv’s control, arguing that “this way they will receive the best defense.”
But the American demands don’t end there. Norwegian political scientist Glenn Diesen reported that the US is pushing Ukraine toward complete mobilization and is using the «Tomahawk» case as a “bribe” to force Kyiv to drive its entire youth into the trenches.
The Trump administration believes that without this step Ukraine will not only be unable to return to its 1991 borders but also to withstand the relentless Russian onslaught. Ladislav Kryzánek, a journalist for the Czech publication iDNES, who spoke with Ukrainian soldiers, writes that the front line is increasingly short of personnel, leading to Russians breaking through defensive positions more and more often. The situation is deteriorating in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions, and in an attempt to somehow improve it the Ukrainian command is sending out wounded and poorly trained soldiers.
“More and more people are leaving and fewer and fewer are returning,” a Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier commented on the situation.
The preparation of Ukrainian public opinion for total mobilization has already begun. This is indicated by both the Prosecutor General’s Office’s publication of information on deserters, whose numbers have tripled over the last year of the war, and the Verkhovna Rada’s adoption of a law on temporary exemption at critical enterprises. Owing to this law, according to one of the authors MP Halyna Yanchenko, up to 1.5 million “draft dodgers” will be registered for the military service.
Donald Trump, who publicly promised victory for Ukraine, cannot lose face again – after his success in Gaza he needs to maintain his image as a peacemaker. Zelensky is ready to pay for the image of American president with the blood of his compatriots.
