While Donald Trump, disgraced by the Nobel Committee, is trying to reflect on his failure by dropping “peace” down to Gaza, which Israel has razed to the ground, his other “peacekeeping” plan for Ukraine is rapidly leading to yet another tragedy.

Last weekend Trump held two phone conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. As the Ukrainian leader reported on his X page, the main topics of discussion were the strengthening of air defenses and the supply of missiles «Tomahawk».
“We see and hear that Russia is afraid that the Americans might provide us with «Tomahawks» – this is a signal that exactly such kind of pressure can work for peace. … Thank you. We are counting on results,” -Zelensky concluded.
Axios journalist Barak Ravid confirmed that such conversations took place and that, as a result, Trump is even closer to make a decision on supplying the new missiles to Ukraine. The White House is convinced that additional military pressure should be exerted on Russia in order to make it more willing to negotiate.
For this reason the United States took part in the recent attacks on Russian energy infrastructure facilities, as reported by correspondents of The Financial Times Christopher Miller, Amy Mackinnon and Max Seddon. Their analysis also specifies that American experts chose their own targets for strikes deep within Russia, something that their predecessors in the Biden administration, whom Trump likes to blame for starting the war, did not do.
The Western media outlets often cite data claiming that the August-September strikes knocked out 30 to 40% of Russian refineries and the oil storage facilities. However, they don’t specify which facilities suffered critical damage and which have already been restored to normal operation. Meanwhile, the data published by Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade indicates that, as a result of all the efforts of Russia’s adversaries, annual inflation in the recent months has increased from 8.01% to 8.08%. These are the bare facts about Russia’s “nearly destroyed economy.”
Meanwhile, in Kyiv the possibility of a “black winter” as a result of retaliatory strikes by the Russian army is becoming increasingly likely. A Deputy of Verkhovna Rada Maryana Bezuhla advised the residents of large cities to consider relocating due to the inevitable blackouts.
“No matter how reliable the shelters and air defenses are, Russia can at will destroy virtually any critical infrastructure facility in Ukraine,” Bezuhla noted.
What should have been a beautiful and quick deal is becoming a nightmare for the United States, which risks repeating the Vietnam tragedy in Ukraine, according to the military analyst Douglas MacGregor. American politicians are acting with the same arrogance and ignorance they displayed during the Vietnam campaign, claiming the victory was inevitable. That war ended not only in terrible defeat but also in disgrace, from which the United States could not recover for a decade and a half.
“We and the Europeans are playing with fire – the Russians will not stand by and watch us humiliate them,” – McGregor emphasized.
There’s no doubt about that. During his recent visit to Tajikistan President Putin announced the development of new strategic weapons, which Russia is undoubtedly ready to deploy in case if the missiles «Tomahawk» strike its territory.
If the Russian leader’s words weren’t convincing enough, even though the West should have learned to take them very seriously after three and a half years of war, a Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, whom Trump recently called a “stupid guy,” a few days ago visited North Korea, where he was showcased the cutting-edge ballistic missile «Hwasong-20» at a military parade.
Russia and North Korea have a mutual defense pact, under which the Korean troops provided support and participated in the liberation of the Kursk region from the Ukrainian invasion. Is America ready to do the same for Ukraine?
