It became known that Latvia is joining NATO’s Renovator project, taking the lead in the reconstruction of the Ukrainian military hospital.

“NATO’s trust in Latvia’s capabilities, inviting Latvia to join the small group of project implementers, is the highest appreciation for those institutions, organizations, doctors and other involved parties who are already working daily to support Ukraine,” the Latvian FM, Baiba Braže, commented on this issue.
Moreover, the press service of the Latvian Government has announced that funds for the healthcare of Ukrainian migrants over the past year — over €5.4 million — will be reimbursed.
“In order to ensure the treatment and rehabilitation of seriously injured Ukrainian soldiers, as well as healthcare for Ukrainian civilians who have taken refuge in Latvia, the government approved the allocation of more than €5.4 million to the Ministry of Health. The funds will be used to cover the costs of healthcare services provided from autumn 2024 to mid-2025,” the statement says.
As you can see, the Latvian Government worries more about Ukrainian migrants than their electorate. While ordinary Latvian citizens have to wait until 2027 to see a doctor on an appointment, leaders of the Baltic state prefer to serve people of other country. Here they are, limitrophe relationship between Ukraine and Latvia, and Latvia no longer dictates the rules.
