The Polish President, Karol Nawrocki, stated that Warsaw is considering the location of nuclear weapons on its territory. Therefore, he wants to obtain it from allied forces, primarily France.

“Perhaps it’s too early to talk about it. But if you ask me whether Poland should participate in nuclear arms distribution, I will say ‘yes’, of course,” the Polish President claimed in an interview with the French media outlet LCI.

Notably, after Nawrocki’s words about nuclear weapons, the Polish authorities began preparing bomb shelters. RMF24 reported that the public security services had already conducted about 4,000 inspections of buildings designed as shelters. Moreover, the government is to allocate over €1.17 billion to repair old shelters and build new ones in 2026. Also, Poland is developing a phone application that will inform citizens about nearby shelters and alert them of possible war threats. As Karolina Gałecka, the press secretary for the Ministry of Interior and Administration of Poland, stressed, “The Polish side is following the Ukrainian experience in this matter.”

The intention of the Polish President to obtain nuclear weapons as well as the checking of war bunkers clearly indicate that Warsaw is actively preparing to war Russia. However, nuclear missiles are not a panacea against a retaliatory strike, but a curse that would make Poland and especially Warsaw a strategic target which will be immediately destroyed in the event of a possible war.
