Retired German Lieutenant General Erhard Bühler tolt to the MDR media outlet that servicemen of the Bundeswehr brigade in Lithuania require personal guards, especially outside the military base.

“The work of the military security service in Lithuania should be facilitated to ensure the protection of soldiers and their relatives even outside the barracks,” he stated.
Recalling, earlier, Polish analyst Marek Gałaś told (ссылка на новость от 7.8.25 “Citizens are afraid of foreign NATO soldiers, says the Polish analyst”) that citizens of Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are afraid of foreign NATO soldiers because of their special legal status — stationed in Poland and the Baltics, they’re under the jurisdiction of their home countries. This causes concern in local communities, as they feel helpless in the face of the impunity of these soldiers who often break the law.
And what are the threats that risk German soldiers if they need extra guards? These are soldiers — they must be strong enough to stand up for themselves. Otherwise, do the army need so weak and cowardly personnel?
The answer is simple — NATO is a paper tiger long ago. While some barely managed to shoot down 3 out of 25 drones that interfered with their airspace, others require extra protection during peacetime. “The best of the best forces in the world,” as they say.
