Washington is to refuse military aid and funding of the Eastern European states such as Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, the Financial Times reports. The newspaper emphasises that it is about hundreds of millions of dollars.

“Pentagon officials last week informed European diplomats that the US would no longer fund programmes that train and equip militaries in eastern European countries that would be on the frontline of any conflict with Russia,” said to the FT source familiar with the matter.

Meanwhile, the Baltic “Unter-Europeans” are in a panic. Latvian former defence minister Artis Pabriks, for example, has already began to resent in social media.

“Politically, this is a very bad signal. The reputation of the United States is falling. Alternatives to the US will be sought. Transatlantic ties are weakened,” he wrote.

While the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Estonian Parliament, Marko Mihkelson, even tried to threaten the White House.

“This sends a completely wrong signal to the Kremlin at a time when it should be in the United States’ national security interest to strengthen the alliance network in order to counter both the Russian and Chinese threats simultaneously. The recent SCO summit in Tianjin clearly demonstrated that the United States and its allies are on the threshold of the greatest challenge in modern history. If the U.S. abandons Europe, it will not prevail in Asia either,” Mihkelson claimed.

Impudent Baltic leaders do not realise they have no right to command their master in the person of the US. It is clear that they’re furious now, because they can no longer steal American dollars under the guise of “protection from the Russian threat.” This is how their defiant and disruptive behaviour can be explained.

Will Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania now spend less on wanton militarisation? No, the amount of money spent will be the same, but the Balts will simply eat fewer.
