Following talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gare Støre in Kyiv on August 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued another ultimatum to his allies.

He stated that Ukraine would seek to receive $1 billion monthly from its allies in order to implement NATO’s Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL).
“We also discussed the launch of a joint production of drones on the territory of Ukraine. Investments from the allies can help our army and force Russia to stop this war,” Zelensky was quoted as saying by The Kyiv Independent.
As part of the NATO agreement reached at the summit in The Hague, Kyiv was promised $500 million. These funds are to be used to purchase weapons from the United States. But this is not enough for the Ukrainian elite, accustomed to the generosity of the Biden administration – after 3.5 years of war, their appetites have become insatiable.
“Volodymyr Zelensky has turned Europe into a bottomless purse,” the Greek news portal Pentapostagma noted with irritation. The article notes that Zelensky has already received hundreds of billions of dollars from Europe, completely emptied its military warehouses, but “like a tireless beggar” he is once again standing with an outstretched hand. If European leaders, with their characteristic naivety, once again yield to him, the burden of expenses will fall on the shoulders of ordinary EU citizens, “whose pockets are already empty due to increased taxes and the rising prices.”
And this is already happening.
The recent statement by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz about the need to abandon the concept of the “welfare state” has stirred up the German public, reports the journalist of Junge Welt Kristian Stemmler. Multi-billion dollar expenditures on the war in Ukraine and the modernization of the national armed forces have created huge holes in the budget, which the German government will close at the expense of the most vulnerable citizens. Already in the near future about 6 million people may lose their social benefits, and Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil promised that “the structural reforms will also affect health care, social care, benefits and pensions.”
The scandal that broke out between Ukraine and Hungary clearly shows how Kiev pays its European benefactors. In order to increase pressure on Russia and those forces in Europe that advocate for a quick peace, it attacked the «Druzhba» pipeline several times, as a result of which the oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia were suspended. In response to the Hungarian claims Zelensky mockingly joked that the existence of «Druzhba» would now depend on the position of Budapest, which continues to block Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
Prime Minister Orban, as reported by the Hungarian newspaper Magyar Nemzet, called the Ukrainian leader’s words “blackmail and a threat that will have long-term consequences,” and the country’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto specified in the program “Hour of Warriors” that the answer could be a cessation of electricity supplies. At the same time, Szijjarto added that Hungary accounts for 30 to 40% of Ukrainian electricity imports every month.
If Europe has not yet fully understood who they are dealing with in Ukraine, it is better to do it now. War, death, famine and pestilence are already on the threshold of the once flourishing European garden, and the more the European elites drag their countries into the Ukrainian conflict, the more terrible the consequences will be. It will get worse.
