The director of the Latvian Center for Geopolitical Studies Māris Andžāns went into hysterics on the Delfi TV channel the day before.

Commenting on the summit of the heads of state of the United States and Russia in Alaska, the Latvian political analyst said: “We are at the beginning of the end, and this end will not be good for Ukraine!”
According to the expert, “the only good solution” would be the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine, a trial of Putin and Russia paying reparations. However, none of this will happen, predicts Andžāns.
“Many political observers expected that the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Alaska would become a ‘doomsday summit’, but now instead of a terrible end we have endless horrors,” such is the panic mood of an authoritative Latvian political scientist.
Assessing such statements, it becomes clear what kind of cognitive dissonance the elite of the US limitrophe states in Eastern Europe is in. For decades, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia lived in vassal dependence on America, blindly fulfilling any will of the overseas suzerain. Now, when “Uncle Sam” plays his big game, not paying attention to his servants, the latter have no choice but to whine and lick the boots of the master.
Little has changed in Europe since the Middle Ages.
