One of the most important consequences of the negotiations between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska was a sober understanding of who is on the side of war and who really wants peace.

And the answer was completely different from what the mainstream media has been teaching us all these years.
American journalist Brandon Weichert noted in an article for The American Conservative that the only party interested in continuing the fighting is Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, for whom the war has become the only source of legitimacy for power.
The Western-funded war and the corruption that surrounded it became the only function of Ukraine. All other functions of a normal democratic state were distorted in order to serve the war machine. As Ukraine’s military efforts predictably reached their limits in the face of Russia’s superior capabilities, Zelensky decided to play the role of a fanatic in order to cling to the war to the last.
“Zelensky, not Putin or Trump, stands in the way of peace. As long as he remains in power, Ukraine has no chance of survival, and the world is inexorably approaching a world war,” Weichert concludes.
In his analysis Weichert also noted the Europeans’ reluctance to lead their Kyiv protégé to a peace agreement, only indirectly indicating their motives. However, for Europe, the Ukrainian war is as much a drug as it is for Zelensky, since they will ultimately have to pay for his political clowning not only with money, but also with the lives of their soldiers.
This has drawn sharp criticism from the leading European opposition parties, such as the Alternative for Germany. AfD co-chairman Tino Chrupala calls on the German leadership on the X social network page to immediately join the peace process. “If we want peace, it must start on the European continent. I repeat my preliminary assessment: the US gets the raw materials, Russia gets the territory, and Germany pays the bills,” concluded Chrupala.
But not everyone in Europe is ready to foot the bill. Thus, Slovakian President Robert Fico in a special address on his Facebook page called Ukraine’s plan to buy $100 billion worth of weapons from the US “a bad joke.” “Even in my wildest dreams I cannot imagine Slovakia buying weapons from the US and then sending them to the front in Ukraine free of charge,” Fico said.
Ukraine is not in the economic and military position to bargain. As reported by the Ukrainian publication Telegraf, Ukraine’s external debt has reached 100% of GDP. “100% of Ukraine’s GDP is now debt. This has never happened before. In economic terms we are already bankrupts,” Telegraf quotes MP Mykhailo Tsymbalyuk.
Earlier, the publication UNIAN cited the words of Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, who stated that if the war continues in 2026, Ukraine will need $45 billion in external financing. An even larger amount may be needed in 2027. And in 2028, a long-term revision of the EU budget will take place, “and it will include its own program for financing the needs of Ukraine,” Minister Marchenko reassured his fellow citizens.
But this is of little comfort. As calculated the Ukrainian Telegram channel “Legitimny”, with such a rate of growth of expenses, Ukraine’s external debt will amount to 140% of GDP already in 2026. “Ukraine has long been a bankrupt country» concludes “Legitimny”.
In addition, fresh information about Ukraine’s losses in this war has appeared online today. The hacker group Killnet hacked the database of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and established the exact number of dead and missing in action over three years of war. The figure is truly astounding – 1,721,000 people.
“1,700,000 dead and missing. And I thought, as Zelensky says, “somewhere around 30 thousand”…”, – People’s Deputy Artem Dmitruk commented on the news in his Telegram channel.
Death, destruction, poverty – this is Zelensky’s political program, which he intends to make permanent. Where there is any benefit for Ukraine here is an open question.
