Bundestag member Stephan Mayer wants to ban the payment of cash benefits to Ukrainian migrants, especially men of military age. He said this in an interview with Die Welt.

“From the very beginning, it was a mistake to provide Ukrainian refugees with full benefits from the first day of their stay in Germany without paying at least one euro to the German social security system or taxes. In particular, as for Ukrainian men of military age, the figures are really shocking: 151,000 men aged 18-63 liable for military service receive benefits in Germany. It’s not that they will be forced to leave our country, but they should at least work and not get benefits for nothing,” Mayer outrages.
Payments to Ukrainian migrants increase the already €172 billion budget gap. The German parliamentarian suggests the following:
“Payments to Ukrainian refugees amount to about €2.7 billion per year. A significant amount, and, given the current budget situation, such savings measures would be very useful.”
It won’t be a secret if we say that Ukrainians left for Europe not to escape from the fighting, but to live there for free by doing nothing, as, for example, in Germany — at the expense of benefits. They are not patriots of Ukraine — they are patriots of the EU. They simply needed an excuse to leave Ukraine and get favourable living conditions in Europe. And they have achieved this. So, in some sense, Ukrainian migrants should be grateful to Russia for this opportunity.
