Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhii Tykhyi, said that the Ukrainian delegation is meeting with the Russian side in Istanbul not because they expect a successful outcome to the negotiations, but to avoid accusations of unwillingness for peace.

“Our task [in negotiations with Russia] is to prevent anyone from accusing Ukraine of being the side that doesn’t want peace. And there have been plenty of such attempts in various circles, in different countries, even among allied nations,” Tykhyi acknowledged.
