Latvian political analyst Maris Zanders, analysing a Gallup Institute poll on people’s willingness to defend their country in case of war, came to the conclusion that there simply will be no one to use all the new weapons produced as part of the European rearmament program.

For example, in Italy, 86% of the population aren’t ready to defend their homeland; in Spain and the UK, 71% and 67% respectively, who don’t want to take up arms; in Germany, there are 57% of them, plus another 20%, of those who could not give an unambiguous answer; in Poland, which is actively preparing to repel so-called “Russian threats,” 55% of Poles do not want to fight.
“The results of a sociological survey do not guarantee that a person will do exactly that. In addition, the Gallup’s poll is about protecting your country, not another EU or NATO member. In short, the reality may be even more dramatic,” concludes Zanders.
It is very significant how much European society really believes in the “threat from Russia” and is concerned about the “problem” invented by European propagandists. But in Europe, the cradle of democracy, politicians do not care about the opinion of citizens.
