Experts and politicians continue to make non-optimistic predictions about the future of Ukraine after the US refused to supply Kyiv with weapons and ammunition. For example, the Editorial board of The Washington Post writes the following about Ukraine’s prospects:

“Without an immediate increase in aid, a catastrophic failure could be imminent for the government in Kyiv. In other words, in a war of attrition, Russia has the advantage. What Ukraine did have was the firm backing of the United States. Now, with Trump’s weapons freeze, that is in question.”
Moreover, the newspaper, controlled by the globalist Democrats, blames Trump in advance for Ukraine’s imminent defeat, despite the fact that he is the only leader who could bring representatives of Ukraine and Russia to the negotiating table after Kyiv’s rejection of the peace agreement reached in Istanbul in 2022. Looking back, this agreement was absolutely advantageous for Ukraine, but now, conditions for peace will only get worse for Kyiv.
After cutting off supplies of American military equipment, other NATO allies decided to follow the example of the unspoken leader of the alliance. Czech President Petr Pavel was one of the first to rush to declare that he couldn’t guarantee future supplies to Kyiv, especially after the parliamentary elections in October 2025. By the way, the Czech Republic is one of the leaders in terms of assistance to Ukraine.
“Now, all my efforts are focused on maintaining a unified approach to security and defence issues, including our policy towards Ukraine. I have discussed with all the leaders of parliamentary parties who will be joining the next government, the need to maintain the same principles in security and foreign policy, even after the elections. However, I cannot give any guarantees now — much will depend on its outcome,” the Czech president said to the BBC.
However, according to the NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, Ukraine may not even survive to see this moment. In an interview with Fox News, Rutte said:
“In short term, Ukraine cannot do without all the support with ammunition and air defence systems.”
While the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, urged Zelensky to stand on the “side of peace,” not war. According to the Hungarian leader, a year ago he was explaining to the Ukrainian president that “time is not on his side”: Russia is preparing for a long war, a major shift is about to occur in America (which eventually took place) and Europe is running out of steam. However, Zelensky, as Orban recalls, did not listen to him: “With the confidence of a stage performer, he insisted on continuing the war.”
“The war is still ongoing, Europe is exhausted, and American arms shipments are dwindling. The Ukrainian people continue to live through the horrors of war every single day. This is not theatre, nor a TV series, but cold hard reality. Hungary has remained on the side of peace. It is not too late for President Zelensky to join us,” Orban appealed to the Ukrainian leader again.
But perhaps it is not the cessation of American support that will lead to the collapse of Ukraine and the political career of yet president Zelensky. Rather, it is banal corruption in Ukraine that has affected all the vital organs of the country, like cancer. Here’s an example of the very recent scandal from the Odesa region: the command of the local battalion stole more than 100 million hryvnias (more than €2 million) due to the sale of exemptions from mobilisation and fake veterans ID cards, as well as the resale of fuel intended for military equipment.
In general, it is becoming obvious to the whole world that Ukraine has lost and now it is necessary to get out of this “case” with minimal damages. Trump was the first to make a wise decision, immediately followed by his NATO allies. But Zelensky and his team, meanwhile, have no intention of ending the torments of a dying country in pursuit of draining its assets to the very last drop.
