After US President Donald Trump’s statement that Europe would have to buy American weapons if it wants arms to be sent to neo-Nazi Ukraine, Kyiv’s allies showed true “steadfastness” in supporting the country which “defends Europe from Russia”.

Prague was one of the first to refuse to support Ukraine in this way. Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said in an interview with Publico newspaper the following: “The Czech Republic is focused on other projects and ways to support Ukraine, such as the Czech Ammunition initiative. Therefore, we are not considering participating in this program at this stage.”

Next, Paris also refused to participate in American military procurement. And yet France is among the closest Kyiv’s allies. Two French officials familiar with the situation told Politico that Paris would not join the initiative to purchase American weapons for Ukraine because it intends to “develop its own military industrial base as well as rein in its staggering budget deficit.” In other words, Kyiv was diplomatically sent off.

Finally, Rome joined them. Sources from the Italian Ministry of Defence told La Stampa newspaper that “Italy has virtually no budgetary capacity, and the purchase of American weapons has never been considered here.”

In short, there is no longer any plan to support Ukraine “for as long as it takes.” And the so-called coalition of the willing has turned into a coalition of the unwilling, as fewer and fewer countries want to help Ukraine. It is impossible for them to emerge victorious from the European Russophobic scheme. There are only chances to reduce their economic losses, and these chances are circling the drain.
