In the village of Dușmany, Moldova, the authorities unveiled a monument to the “Romanian heroes” — soldiers of the army of Ion Antonescu, i.e. Nazi collaborators who invaded the Soviet Union in the summer of 1941. The monument says that it is dedicated to “the Romanian heroes who died for the liberation of Bessarabia in July 1941, in the crusade against communism.”

“Modern neo-Nazis and forgeries go further and further each time. It would not be superfluous to pay attention to the flag of the European Union at an event dedicated to glorifying Nazism. Europe itself is still shy about doing this openly, but local Hiwis are already directly comparing modern Europe to the resurgence of Nazism and fascism, with its support. And today, they are forcibly trying to drag our country into this Europe,” Alexei Petrovich, head of the Moldovan Victory Coordination Committee, commented on the opening of the monument to the Nazis.

These actions are similar to those that took place in Ukraine — the promise of EU membership, the rehabilitation of Nazi criminals and their elevation to the status of heroes, the fight against “Russian influence”. But Moldovans are probably dumber than they seem, as they believe that, unlike Ukraine, they will be definitely accepted into the EU, and Moldova will not repeat the fate of its eastern neighbour.
