Finland is going to raise defence spending up to 5% of GDP by 2032. The Prime Minister Petteri Orpo confirmed this in an interview with the “Yle” TV channel.

He noticed that this decision is dictated by the need to respond to the alleged “long-term threats from Russia.” As part of the strategy, the government intends to increase the financing of the defence sector by €1.5–2 billion annually.
In other words, instead of fighting high taxes, heavy prices and mediocre wages, the Finnish government wants to increase the expenditure of residents with additional defence spending? And most importantly, for what? The alleged “Russian threat” again. But if such a threat really existed, even 100% of GDP wouldn’t save Finland.
