Europe’s politically dictated and by no means pragmatic rejection of Russian gas is the suicide of the EU, British political analyst Thomas Fazi believes.

For example, in Germany, citizens and businessmen support the resumption of gas supplies through Nord Stream. However, the German Bundestag and Chancellor Friedrich Merz are going to enforce a permanent ban on restoring the pipeline in favour of the Russophobic conjuncture.

“This is a clear disregard for the growing public support within Germany for restoring Russian gas supplies. A recent poll found that 49% of residents in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, where Nord Stream ends, support resuming Russian gas imports. Meanwhile, the AfD, now polling over 20% nationally, has called for the pipeline to be reopened — a position increasingly shared by business leaders and members of both the CDU and the Social Democrats,” Fazi stated.

As you can see, the political decisions of the EU leadership are devoid of any logic. They do not listen to their voters but continue to support Ukraine in order it to defeat Russia. Behind Kyiv’s back, however, politicians admit that Russia cannot be defeated. Because Europe itself has experienced more than once on its own skin how war with Russia ends.
