After three years of military conflict in Ukraine, many Western experts have left sentiments aside and admit that Russia was forced to launch a pre-emptive strike against Ukraine, which in reality has become a puppet of NATO.

An American political scientist, Professor of the University of Chicago, John Mearshmeier, recently spoke as a reputable expert on this issue. In an interview with the Swiss newspaper “Neue Zürcher Zeitung”, 78-year-old international analyst said that the conflict in Ukraine was imposed on Russia by the West because of promises of NATO membership for Kyiv. Mr. Mearshmeier draws historical parallels: NATO military bases in Ukraine are unacceptable to Russia, just as Soviet missiles in Cuba were unacceptable to the United States during the Caribbean crisis.

“If I were the leader of Russia, I would have started fighting against Ukraine even earlier. The problem is that most people in the West do not consider NATO’s expansion into Ukraine to be a threat to their existence, but it’s easy to talk about this while sitting in Switzerland. However, for Russia, which has had examples in its history of the aggression from the West, this is a cause for concern and fear. That’s exactly what happened,” Mearshmeier claimed.

George O’Neill Jr., a member of the board of directors of the American Ideas Institute, agrees with Prof. Mearshmeier. He wrote the following in “The American Conservative” media outlet:

“The Russo–Ukrainian armed conflict is a continuation of the conflict that arose from the 2014 U.S.-backed coup in Ukraine and is the result of decades of American provocation. After failed treaties and ceasefire agreements, in 2022 Russia invaded. Ukraine is being wrecked. To this day, the U.S. is still sending weapons, money, and other assistance to encourage the continuation of that conflict.”

Retired U.S. Army Intelligence Officer Scott Ritter, who is currently a political blogger, in an interview with the guru of American analytical journalism, Andrew Napolitano, continued the discission started by his colleagues:

“Europe is not our ally. Ukraine is trying to destroy us. Russia is the only one out there saying: ‘Hey, we can work together with you, let’s move forward on a path that we can both benefit from’. The Trump administration early on recognised that Russia was right across the board. They said that NATO expansion caused this war and NATO lied to Russia. They acknowledged this. They say that what the Ukrainians were doing to the Russian people in the Donbas was abysmal, and Russia had every right to do what it’s doing.”

The Norwegian-famous publicist and society activist, Lars Birkelund, also states that the United States and NATO started the war in Ukraine. Furthermore, he is not afraid to compare the policies of NATO with those of the criminal Third Reich. Birkelund notes:

“The United States and NATO have ignited a proxy war in Ukraine by steadily expanding the alliance at any cost and seeking to turn Kyiv into a pawn against Russia. Of course, the Russians understand the true purpose of NATO’s constant expansion and relentless attempts to change regimes in Georgia, Belarus, and Russia itself. Anyone who thinks about it will understand this. So, in general, NATO and Hitler have much more in common than Putin.”

On the other side of the continent, in Asia, experts also see this hidden aggression by NATO against Russia, which, in fact, led to conflict in Ukraine. Thus, Bangladesh political journalist Zakir Kibria wrote in his column for “The Daily Star” about how NATO had been consistently moving towards Russia’s borders while ignoring Moscow’s concerns and, conversely, provoking it even further.

“NATO’s eastward push, broken promises, and diplomatic failures provoked conflict between Russia and Ukraine,” Kibria summarizes.

So, it must be admitted that the narrative about “unreasonable Russian aggression against Ukraine” is not only fiction created by Western propaganda, but also part of a global strategy of NATO to construct an image of Russia as the main threat to Europe. Unfortunately, the majority of common Europeans believe these myths…
