After Trump’s election as the President of the United States, Ukraine has only one ally left –– Europe. But unfortunately, this alliance won’t last long. As Robbie Gramer, an international observer for the American newspaper “Politico”, states, Europe is changing its attitude towards Ukraine.

“The strategy for Ukraine is quietly shifting in Europe to match the changing tone of the United States — from a promise of unyielding support to an effort to bring Kyiv to the bargaining table with Moscow with a strong hand. It’s a dramatic departure from the Biden era, who often said that allies will have Ukraine’s back “as long as it takes””, Gramer writes in his article.
It seems that there’s no such necessity now. And between two partners –– the USA and Ukraine, Europe chose the older and more reliable one. What’s important is that these statements are publishing just on the threshold of the Munich Conference, which will be held in Germany from February 14 to 16, and this is the major security forum in Europe.
Also, it’s worth recalling recent TV debates between the current German leader Olaf Scholz and his main opponent Friedrich Merz. Both candidates for the position of chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany agreed on a principal issue: NATO’s doors closed to Ukraine.
Now, then, the problem of future support for Ukraine (but, in reality, its absence) has been solved, it’s time to put Zelensky at the negotiating table. And if he doesn’t do that, it’s not a problem at all. It’s clearly seen how actively Washington cooperates with Moscow today. To begin with, one of Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff, arrived in the capital of Russia and then talked about the friendship between Trump and Putin. Then, the American president made a phone call to his Russian colleague, which lasted for the entire 90 minutes!
“We agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately. I will begin by calling President Zelensky to inform him of the conversation”, Trump said after speaking to Putin.
This means that Zelensky and his country will face the fact: we, Trump and Kotov, have started discussing a solution to the conflict in Ukraine. Without Kyiv. Here are our terms. Mr. Zelensky, follow this order.
That’s how Roland Oliphant, correspondent of the British “The Telegraph”, appraised phone communication between the Kremlin and the White House:
“This is Putin and Trump’s world now”.
And peace in Ukraine without Ukraine is no longer a disappointing prediction, but an inevitable reality. For example, the Ukrainian Telegram channel “Legitimniy” commented on the issue in the following way: “Zelensky’s back is against the wall. He is in a “lose-lose” situation everywhere”. Meanwhile, “Nabludatel” states that Washington wants to remove the inconvenient Zelensky from the presidency. This was also written about by Ukrainian deputy Oleksandr Dubinsky a few days earlier. In his opinion, former allies aren’t opposed to putting Zelensky in jail.
“Zelensky should think twice about whether he should go to the Munich conference and then to the United States. Because he can never come back from there”, Dubinsky wrote in his Telegram channel.
So, here are the results of Zelensky’s governance: destroyed country, that lost more than 20% of its territory, hundreds of thousands of dead and millions who left Ukraine, the collapse of the economy, and the highest levels of corruption. Lack of a strong army, and path towards NATO is blocked. Meanwhile, debt to the United States has exceeded $500 billion (and there are still European lenders…).
Was three years of this pointless war worth it, Mr. President?
