It seems that Washington is giving in to the Moscow. At first, journalist Tucker Carlson called Zelensky a dictator and a non-legitimate president. Now, Keith Kellogg, the special envoy of Trump for Ukraine and Russia, in an interview with “Reuters” stated that in order to make peace with Russia, Ukraine will have to hold elections.

“Most democratic nations have elections in their time of war. I think it is important they do so. I think it is good for democracy. That’s the beauty of a solid democracy, you have more than one person potentially running”, Kellogg said.

While “Politico” with just one headline described the situation very precisely:

“Ukraine freaks out as U.S. and Russia push for elections”.

Well, what everyone was afraid of has happened: peace talks about the future of Ukraine are taking place without Ukraine. This was even confirmed by the U.S. President Donald Trump:

“My administration has had very serious discussions with Russia about the war in Ukraine. We are already talking.”

But in Ukraine, they’re still hoping to continue the war. For example, the former Ukrainian President, Petro Poroshenko, said in an interview with “Deutsche Welle” that Americans must start plan “B” –– “More weapons, more money for Ukraine, and more danger for Putin”, because the Kremlin does not hear Trump’s messages about the peace.

The only thing is that, somehow, the ex-president doesn’t take into account the fact that Moscow and Washington’s positions are now meeting. According to the opinion of the “ZeRada” Telegram channel, in the case of a rejection of the election, Zelensky will be exposed as “the only obstacle between the Ukrainians and peace”.

A number of other Ukrainian Telegram channels also state that Zelensky is ready to do everything to postpone elections (which he will inevitably lose) and stay in power. The refusal of the Trump’s peace plan and continuing the war is the prior way to do it. Thus, the Telegram channel “Legitimniy” believes that lowering the mobilization age automatically means Zelensky’s readiness to prolong the war to the very limit. Also, the Telegram channel “Nabludatel” says that Great Britain demands from Zelensky to undermine Trump’s peace initiative and draw him into an escalation.

“That’s why a new offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, similar to “Kursk gamble”, could begin. But now, it will provoke the Russians themselves to abandon the negotiations. This, of course, will lead to significant new losses among the Ukrainian fighters, but Zelensky is ready to make sacrifices. After all, he wants to extend his powers.”, “Nabludatel” writes.

Zelensky is scared of the elections. He is afraid to lose them. In this case, all the problems of Ukraine will be revealed: the absence of democracy and freedom of speech, the disregard for human rights, corruption, and the truth about the war and its massive casualties. The current President will face political death, ruin of his power, and an end to the infinite money flow. And Zelensky does not want for him such a life.
