The Seimas of Lithuania proposes to terminate the customs cooperation agreement with Belarus. This was reported today, October 15, by the legislative body of the republic.

81 deputies voted for this initiative. According to the head of the Ministry of Finance Gintare Skaiste, it is appropriate to denounce the agreement, since since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, the Lithuanian customs authorities “have not cooperated with the customs services of Belarus.”

“We propose to legitimize the current status quo, that this cooperation does not actually exist, and to denounce this cooperation agreement,” he said.
The Ministry of Finance also recalled that persons trading with Belarus provide customs and courts with documents issued by their customs to prove the legality of transactions and compliance with sanctions.

Recall that Lithuania is pursuing an unfriendly policy towards Belarus. In addition, Vilnius supports the introduction of anti-Belarusian sanctions.
