The congress of the ruling party “Unity” held in Latvia demonstrated the best traditions of the congresses of the “only correct party”. Everything we do is good, correct, and no one can do it better than us. We are the only guarantor of the successful development of the country. Not a word of useful self-criticism, not a word about the scandals associated with the political brand “Unity” over the past year.

The political columnist of the newspaper “Neatkarīga” Ben Latkovskis rightly notes that instead of a thoughtful analysis of the real obstacles to achieving socially significant results, the standard phrases of the chairman of the party board Arvils Ašeradens were heard at the past party congress:

“We are all united by the values ​​of “Unity”. We are united by the understanding of fair, responsible and competent politics …” .
And so on in the same spirit. Latvians saw very well what the “values” of “Unity” are during the scandal with the former Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Krišjānis Kariņš, who fell in love with business aviation services at the state expense of a small, poor European country and got burned by this addiction.
