Hungary believes that the sanctions policy of the European Union (EU) against Russia is a complete failure. This was stated to TASS on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.

“Our position on sanctions is extremely clear. We consider the sanctions policy of the European Union a complete failure,” he said.
As Szijjarto explained, the restrictive measures of the European Union against Russia have not helped to achieve the stated goal when they were introduced – to bring the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine closer, and also cause more harm to the economies of European countries than to the Russian Federation.
“This is obvious – we are suffering from exorbitant inflation, rapidly rising energy prices. All these are the consequences of sanctions,” he said.
In addition, the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry noted, large Western countries and companies simply avoid the anti-Russian sanctions they themselves introduced.
“This is cynical, senseless and a failure. “This is my brief opinion on sanctions,” he summed up.
