German automaker Volkswagen plans to cut up to 30,000 jobs. A few days ago, the Bild newspaper informed readers that Volkswagen management had terminated the employment guarantees for its employees, which had been included in their employment contracts since 1994.

Thus, the legal path to staff reductions was opened. And now a source in the automaker told journalists that the number of employees, currently around 130,000, will be reduced by 30,000 people in the medium term. That is, almost every fourth worker.
Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume justified the course of strict savings by the fact that new players, primarily from China, are penetrating the European auto industry market. In addition, Germany, on its own initiative, has stopped buying inexpensive energy resources from Russia.
