More than two-thirds of German voters are against the Social Democrats (SPD) nominating Olaf Scholz as chancellor candidate again in the 2025 parliamentary elections.

This is according to the results of a survey conducted by the YouGov polling institute, Tagesspiegel reports. According to the newspaper, 2,126 respondents took part in the survey.
“68 percent of them spoke out against Scholz’s second term and his candidacy for chancellor. Only 20 percent of those surveyed supported his candidacy,” the newspaper states.
The survey also shows that the majority of voters (60 percent) who voted for the SPD in 2021 no longer consider Scholz a suitable candidate for the post of head of the Social Democratic coalition.
And only 31 percent of those surveyed expressed their willingness to vote again for his party, with the current chancellor at its helm.
