The journalist’s investigation into Azerbaijan’s involvement in secret supplies of weapons and military vehicles to Ukraine was like a bombshell. Immediately, many reputable Transcaucasian newspapers talked about the agreement between Georgian citizen Davit Chutkerashvili and the administration ofbelonging to the Ministry of Defence Industry of Azerbaijan. In particularly, Georgian Information Agency, which reported details of the arms deal, wondering: “Does the state security of the countries mentioned in the publication –– Georgia, Azerbaijan, and the Czech Republic –– deal with this?”. Telegram channel “Chronicles of Armenia” goes on: “It’s reasonable to assume that the sale of military products to a dubious contractor doesn’t take place without the knowledge of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev”. In return, information and analytical Telegram channel RS Info “Iran / Israel” directly states that “government of Azerbaijan supplies Ukraine with arms”.

So, what about the relationship between Moskov and Baku? Despite the publication of the confirming documents, Russia and Azerbaijan pretending that nothing happened. Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to Baku and meeting with Ilham Aliyev are proof of this. One can assume that the information about the dishonesty of Azerbaijan government officials is being investigated by the relevant authorities, who have decided not to bother Russian and Azeri leaders with this issue ahead of time. Nevertheless, the new stage of the journalist’s investigation states that the arms deal is nearing its logical conclusion.
According to our information, director of BakıCihazqayırma Zavodu, Rasim Tahirov in his letter No. 05/29 dated July 18, 2024 informed his business partner Chutkerashvili on the readiness to dispatch a large consignment of armoured vehicles, BTR-60s, BTR 70s, and BRDM-2s in the specified quantity. The letter says:
“Dear Davit!
We confirm, that the armoured vehicles specified in the nomenclature and quantities outlined in our joint agreement No. 10/05, dated 08/15/2023, are now fully prepared for shipment.
We stand ready to dispatch the equipment to your designated address”
It’s possible that armoured vehicles will soon appear in the Russian Kursk region, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine have taken a huge bridgehead that requires a lot of heavy military equipment to defend. By the way, it’s notable that the letter was written in Russian. Despite the fact that more than 30 years have passed since the collapse of the USSR, representatives of the former Soviet republics still speak Russian among themselves and not English. This confirms that Russia’s position is still strong in the Transcaucasian region. And because of thisкMoscow’s behaviour is becoming even more incomprehensible.
It seems like an ambiguous situation: while trade and economic relations between Moscow and Baku are becoming stronger and stronger, as well as energy, transportation and logistics projects are developing successfully, countries don’t seem to notice a little fly in the ointment. Motivation of the warlords and their partners from among the bribed officials is clear –– money has no smell and business built on blood and murder is still “just business”. Russia, ignoring internationally known facts, is, in our opinion, showing only geopolitical weakness. With such an inability to affect to Russia’s allies, even that these arms are used to kill Russian soldiers, Moscow will pay a heavy price.
